A Great Way to Start Retirement

I retired a few years ago. Friends that I have known most of my life asked me to become a volunteer driver for the Meals on Wheels of Wayne. The folks that already worked there are amazing and very positive. It would be difficult to leave even if I wanted to due to their constant positive feedback.

My route has gone up and down over the years. I have gotten to know most of my clients well. I know what they like and don't like and a little of their family history. When one of them moves or passes away it takes a while to stop driving to their homes.

I too have a story about how we can be life savers. One of my clients did not answer her door - which was not like her. I called her daughter who is the emergency contact. She drove over to the house right away. She later called me and told me that her mother had fallen two days earlier and she would not have known if I had not called her.
